# Secure Your Google Maps API Key

Google offers a robust and secure method for using your API key, making it easy to manage while ensuring it is only utilized on your designated websites. This approach enhances both security and ease of use, providing peace of mind as you integrate your API.

If you have already created the API key, follow the below steps to apply the restrictions for utilising it only on specified websites :

**Step-1:** Open **APIs and Services** option → click on **Credentials** - you will see your API key (Click on it to add the restrictions)

**Step-2**:  In the **Set an application restriction option -** click on **websites.**&#x20;

**Enter your store’s URL without Https\://** as shown in the image below.

* In the **API restrictions** section, add your domain(s) to the allowed list.

For example:

```
example.com
*.example.com
```

Add these additional domains to work with the App and Shopify:

```
example.myshopify.com
*.shopifypreview.com
*.spicegems.com
```

Replace "example.com" with your actual domain. If your site uses a www prefix (e.g., [www.example.com](http://www.example.com)), you don’t need to include it here—just stick with example.com.

## 6. Save Your Changes:

Click **Save** at the bottom of the page to lock in your updates.
